How Does Flexi-T Work to Prevent Unwanted Pregnancy?
Flexi-T is available in different sizes to accommodate the needs of all women—no matter the age or size. It is a small, flexible, T-shaped plastic (polypropylene) device with smooth, rounded tips and pure copper tubing. After the physician inserts it into the uterus, the Flexi-T’s copper releases traces of copper into the uterus, effectively preventing sperm cells from reaching the egg, which prevents the fertilisation process.
In the highly unlikely event that fertilization of the egg occurs, the copper prevents the egg from uterine wall implantation. Flexi-T begins working immediately after insertion, which makes the device an ideal option for emergency contraception and a safe “morning after” solution.
